Rules and Regulations


Washington Market Park abides by rules and regulations pertaining to all New York City parks as well as a few specific rules that help maintain our park features.

  • Strollers and baby carriages are not allowed on the lawn at any time.
  • Blankets are not allowed on the lawn except during concerts and movie nights.
  • No dogs are allowed in the park.
  • Bicycle riding is prohibited.
  • Organized sports not open to the general public are not permitted on the lawn.

The Friends of Washington Market Park is a non-profit that produces free public events and supports park restoration and improvements.
Lost And Found
Lost and found
Park staff will store any items left behind in the park house under the stairs leading to BMCC in the northwest corner of the park.
Washington Market Park History
History
The park was created in 1978 as Washington Market Community Park, a result of local activism that aimed to bring much-needed green space to Lower Manhattan.
